333 Collins

Another visit to 333 Collins Street the other day but this time, I had a new lens with me. The fantastic Samyang 2.8/8mm Fish-eye. This lens has been a lot of fun and I’m excited to continue finding new and interesting things to shoot with it.

End of The Line

This shot was taken a couple weeks ago along Mentone Beach.  Some of my images from that day have inspired me to make a book of the beautiful sites that surround Port Phillip Bay.  This image was taken on my new Sony Nex-6 which I am absolutely loving.  I’m usually a Canon girl but after using my partners Nex-7 in WA a few months back and seeing the great results from such a small, light weight camera…there was no question…I had to have one.  Don’t get me wrong, I still love and use my Canon but the Nex-6 is my current walk around camera these days.  The Canon will come out for my property jobs but almost everything else, will be shot with the Nex.

For processing effects on this image, I used Lightroom 5 for basic adjustments then I merged three different exposure images into Nik HDR Efex Pro then for the final monochrome look, I used Nik – Silver Efex Pro 2.

Private Jetty

Ever since my walk along the Millionaires Walk in Sorrento, I’ve been wanting to write a little blog with some nice photos about it. I haven’t gotten the chance to do this just the way I’d like to, so in the meantime, here’s another photo of an old jetty that I really had to watch my step on.

Cliff Crest

This is one of the many private property gates along the famous Millionaires Walk in Sorrento. This stunning cliff top walk has breathtaking water views across Port Phillip Bay to the Bellarine Peninsula on one side and million dollar homes on the other.  At times, you are actually walking in the back yards of peoples houses which feels a little intrusive but hey… they decided to live here, knowing this track was open to the public.  It makes you quickly forget about their privacy and just admire the beautiful scenery. Many houses, like Cliff Crest here, have jetties with beautiful built boat houses that pan out to the peninsula. It is truly a stunning walk.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Window

A former psychiatric hospital, Larundel is now a dilapidated haunt. Dating back from 1938, Larundel has been a U.S. Military Hospital, W.A.A.F. Training Depot, emergency housing flats and in 1953, it was offically opened as a mental hospital. There is so much history and erriness in this now abandoned building, it is a photographers gem and a supernatural enthusiast popular destination.

Under The Dome

Melbourne’s most exclusive address, 333 Collins.  I’ve been told to check out this building for awhile now and I finally did last week. Christmas may be over but the tree still stands in this beautiful landmark tower.  The former Banking Chamber & Vestibule of the Commercial Bank of Australia was constructed over 100 years ago, before the land boom of the 1890’s.  After a big controversy with Melburnians to save the building from a massive demolish, the building is now registered on the Historic Buildings List.  Thank goodness people fight to save some of the beauty in this world.
